Zach & Gabby A Colorado Rockies Engagement Session When we first asked Zach and Gabby where they wanted to go for their engagement session, the locations seemed almost endless, much like their sense of adventure. Out of the many lists of US Parks, beaches, and beautiful cities that had provided, they both settled on the stunning Colorado Rockies, a place that neither of us had ever been before. Of course, this may scare some photographers, but not us. We love going on new adventures! If you have never been to Colorado, you must first understand that the Colorado Rockies stretch across seven states, as well as another country- Canada. However, the Rocky Mountain National Park is nestled right in front of the cutest town known as Estes Park, CO. It is here, where we met up with Zach and Gabby to capture one of the most beautiful engagement sessions in our career. We arrived a day early and scoped out the hiking trails around Bear Lake. When we told some of the local Coloradans where we were going, they told us we had picked one of the best locations around. In order to find the perfect spot, we chose to tour some of the lakes off of Bear Lake Trailhead. There are so many hikes to choose from. Thankfully, we did some research and narrowed it down to a few before arriving in CO. Simply put, they were all stunning, Nymph Lake is the first lake you meet on the trail towards Emerald Lake. After you hike a little further you will hit Dream Lake. This is where we planned to stop and get a majority of the pictures. The views were so picturesque! We messaged Gabby and Zach and told them our plan. In order to get the most out of their engagement shoot, we collectively decided to do a sunrise session at Dream Lake. So, the next day, they brought a couple outfits, a few of their friends, and met us around 5 am. After a quick trip to Starbucks, we met and took the 2.5 mile hike to Dream Lake. It was definitely chilly on that October morning, but the sunrise did not disappoint. It was stunning!

Register Here FAQs: Are you a dog-friendly photographer? Answer: Absolutely! If you feel comfortable bringing your dog(s) to the park around other dogs, we are more than willing to work he or she into as many photos as you like. We do ask that you bring a leash along with a small bag of treats to help achieving his or her attention. Here are a few pictures of some of the dogs we met last mini session season! :) What happens if it rains? Answer: Sometimes, during October and November, rain can creep up unaware in the forecast. If this occurs, we will reschedule sessions within a 12-hour notice. Both locations we have chosen do have a covering in case of a sudden downpour. We will try our best to reschedule sessions to the following day or weekend, depending on our availability. How do we access our pictures when they are finished? Answer: After your session is complete, we send the entire album back via email link. This will take you to an online gallery where you can select up to fifteen photographs from the session. How long until we receive our gallery? Answer: We strive our hardest to have all galleries delivered within two weeks of the shoot date. All families that are photographed during our mini session dates are delivered on the same day as everyone else. Unfortunately, we cannot offer rush edits for these galleries. Can we purchase more than the fifteen photographs included? Answer: Of course. We encourage buying your entire album for an additional $50. We usually stay in contact after the album has been sent back to see what your family would like to do. Do you work with very large families? Answer: Yes! We love large families, especially when they include many generations! We have been family photographers for nearly ten years now and have seen all sorts of family dynamics. However, for mini sessions, we recommend booking either two time slots back-to-back or a full family session (one hour). This allow more time for moving from spot to spot and capturing the very best of moments. Here are a few large families we photographed last mini session season.

  • Five Ways to Create Timeless Bridal Portraits | Couick Photography |

Five Ways to Create Timeless Bridal Photos Scheduling a bridal portrait session, particularly in the south, is a cherished tradition that has deep roots in history. Originating from the antebellum era, this practice gained popularity as a way for brides to showcase their elegance and beauty revealed to guests on the wedding day. Historically, these portraits were often commissioned oil paintings or sketches. They were considered a symbol of status and were displayed prominently in the bride's family home. Over time, photography replaced paintings, yet the tradition persisted, evolving into a pre-wedding photography session focused solely on the bride. Now, many brides will showcase one or two on their wedding day in a huge frame for their guests to see. Afterwareds, this portrait will hang in the bride's home or her parents' house. Today, scheduling a bridal portrait session has become a standard practice in many regions, not just the South. It allows photographers to capture a bride's radiance and elegance in a relaxed setting, often four to six weeks before the wedding day. We have options for our brides to schedule their bridal sessions wherever they like; we always get to proposed with how to make such sessions a timeless piece for the home to have forever. So, we came up with a list to make this possible. The Duke Mansion —Charlotte, NC 1. Choose a Classic Location When trying to picture the perfect spot for your bridal session, opt for a timeless, elegant location that will not feel dated in years to come. Think about picturesque landscapes, historic sites, or iconic venues that add a sense of timelessness to your images. Often, venue owners will offer their brides free access to their venues for a separate date when the bride books her wedding there. Keep this in mind when booking your own wedding. If you would like a different look, however, consider somewhere with beatiful landscape views, classic neutral tones, and iconic spots for various angles. Your choice in location is EVERYTHING. 2. Focus on Simplicity Timeless bridal portraits often showcase clean, graceful lines, uncluttered backgrounds, and classic poses that emphasize the bride's beauty and attire without overwhelming distractions. Remember, simplicity doesn't equate to being budget-friendly or extravagant. It's about a refined approach, a delicate balance of elements that harmonize with your venue, gown, and floral arrangements. It's possible to create a striking, memorable shoot by strategically highlighting specific elements that align with the essence of your vision. Don't be afraid to infuse your shoot with elements that complement the simplicity you're aiming for, making it fun, vibrant, and unforgettable. The Henry Hal l Wilson House—Monroe, NC The Grande Victorian—Monr oe, NC 3. Natural Light Keep an eye out for spots that utilize natural light whenever possible. It not only enhances the beauty of the moment but also creates a soft, ethereal quality to your images that stands the test of time. Windows, open door-ways, outside locations, and mirrors offer wonderful methods to achieve naturally lit photographs. I admit I love utilizing artificial light through flash for photos. I do it all the time for bridal sessions, especially with a modernistic vibe. However, my most favorite approach is always to possess the natural light in the room, first. 4. Add Florals Most bridal sessions incoprorate a floral bouquet or multiple arrangments to make the session more aesthetic. Before your bridal session, coordinate with a florist to have your bouquet created or selected specifically for the vibe and decor around you. Make sure the flowers are fresh, vibrant, and aligned with the overall theme or colors of your wedding. Fresh flowers are way more attractive than artificial, in our opinion. However, looking for silk and wooden florists can provide you with a vision that lasts much longer than just the day. Consider any additional floral arrangements or props you'd like to incorporate into the session to add a touch of elegance and beauty to your portraits. 5. Utlize a Veil and Accessories The veil often serves as an exquisite complement to the dress, delicately framing serene close-ups to showcase intricate lacework and embroidery details. Brides often opt for longer cathedral veils, allowing for dramatic movements, cascading shots, and/or gentle draping for an ethereal touch, ensuring the veil dances gracefully with natural light. Meanwhile, accessories like hair pendants, bows, and necklaces seamlessly intertwine, enhancing the gown without overpowering it, offering opportunities for captivating silhouettes and unique imagery for each bride. For brides choosing to forego a veil, there's a wealth of options available—hundreds of pieces to curate the perfect look, ensuring timeless and personalized photographs. Bridal portraits are more than just snapshots; they encapsulate moments of joy, elegance, and individuality for every bride. Each portrait unfolds a unique story, reflecting a bride's distinct personality. Timeless photographs are beautiful for every age in time. However, if your dream consists of a modern flare with bold colors and trending decor, do not be afraid to do what you want. This is YOUR wedding! More than anything, you deserve for your bridals to be a perfect; so plan with your vendors to make sure they are everything you have dreamed them to be. With a touch of creativity and personal flair, your portraits can become cherished keepsakes, preserving the magic of your journey in a way that is forever enchanting and uniquely your own.

  • NYC Engagement Session | Jack and Pamela

Capturing Love in the City A NYC Engagement Session Back in the early summer, I had the privilege of embarking on an unforgettable engagement session in the heart of New York City. Thanks to the expertise of two wonderful native New Yorkers, Jack and Pamela, the weekend was meticulously planned to capture the essence of their love story against the backdrop of the city that never sleeps. Flying from Charlotte, NC to New York for this special occasion was just the beginning of a whirlwind weekend filled with sightseeing, laughter, and, of course, capturing magical moments through my camera. From the moment we landed in the Newark Airport to our checkin at the Knickerbocker Hotel , we travelled quickly and were able to see a few sights before starting our first session that evening. Since I have been to NYC before, I was somewhat familiar with the area and enjoyed using the subway system. Their engagement session began in Lower Manhattan's Financial District, where the towering skyscrapers framed the start of our photographic tale. As we strolled along the shoreline, Jersey City's skyline created a breathtaking backdrop, also offering a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty at certain angles off in the distance, all of which held special meaning for Jack and Pamela, having been their home for some time. The day transitioned beautifully as we stopped at the Occulus for the iconic shot below. Then, we ascended to the roof top of their friend's apartment building, where the sun began its graceful descent and the One World Trade Center stood behind us. The skyline served as a picturesque canvas for our photographs, each frame holding the warmth of the setting sun and the radiance of this beautiful couple. I dont think I could have ever pictured a prettier sunset there. We had the whole rooftop to ourselves. Talk about a magical night—it was perfect. Our adventure didn't stop there, though. Jack and Pamela took us to the renowned Fraunces Tavern , a perfect ending to a day filled with laughter and amazing food. This place was so historical—a little nook burried among the rest of the bustling city. I read it was once of the meeting place where Washington is beleived to have given his farwell address in 1783. After that, we took a night tour on the top of one of NYC double decker buses. That was worth every penny experiencing the city that way. The following morning, our journey continued with an additional session in Central Park, centering around the Bethesda Fountain and also Grand Central Station. The park's tranquility and the fountain's elegance provided an enchanting backdrop, bringing a serene contrast to the vibrant cityscape captured the day before. Reflecting on this experience, it was more than just an engagement session—it was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the breathtaking beauty of New York City. We were able to tour the city, watch broadway shows, witness amazing street life, and photograph the most stunning couple the NYC streets has ever seen. Over time, it seems that nearly every corner of the city became a part of Jack and Pamela's love story. They knew of the most breathtaking spots and had little stories to tell us along the way. The weekend in New York was not just about photography; it was about embracing the joy of the moment, celebrating love, and creating unforgettable memories that will forever be cherished for our sweet couple. I'm already looking for another reason to go back. Maybe a Christmas session in NYC!? Who's next?
